Invest STL's Community Development Efforts Have Regional Scope

The St. Louis region now has its first community economic development system. Invest STL, as its called, will work to create "a pipeline of place-based, neighborhood-led development projects."

"Banks and CDCs in the Missouri city recently joined forces with the philanthropic sector in Greater St. Louis to create Invest STL," reports Oscar Perry Abello, "the first regionwide community economic development system for St. Louis."

The article includes details about how Invest STL is expecting to select and support projects. Perhaps most importantly, according to Perry Abello, is that the effort will occur "in a more coordinated, strategic fashion at the regional level." The St. Louis region's infamous fragmentation prevented such efforts in previous iterations.
