The power of open data and mapping is on display in a map by Chicago Cityscape that shows all building permits for affordable housing in Chicago over the past decade.
Chicago Cityscape present an interactive map of all the affordable housing units permitted in Chicago between January 1, 2006, to February 2, 2016. The data points on the map, which was created by Samantha Kearney, represent permits that specify affordable housing units or involve an affordable housing developer. Notably, according to the text that accompanies the map, "[the] majority of the permits are for the Chicago Housing Authority."
The map also breaks down building permits for projects of less than $1 million, less than $10 million, more than $10 million, new construction, and renovations.
