Mayor Eric Garcetti has nominated Vince Bertoni to lead the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. Bertoni is currently the planning director of the city of Pasadena.
David Zahniser breaks the news of a big change at the top of the Los Angeles Department of City Planning: Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the nomination of Vince Bertoni to the position of director for the Department of City Planning.
"In his announcement, Garcetti said the city needs an expert who 'brings both fresh ideas and an intricate understanding of our city’s complex planning process,' reports Zahniser.
If approved by the Los Angeles City Council, Bertoni would replace Michael LoGrande, who has held the position since 2010. Zahniser places the nomination in context of the city's many development controversies—including a lawsuit against the city's recently approved Mobility Plan 2035, the "Neighborhood Integrity Initiative," which, if approved by voters, would end general plan amendments, and more.
