The Urbanist chose 19 of the progressive recommendations from a total of 65 put forward by the Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda Advisory Committee (HALA) committee.
Scott Bonjukian provides thorough examination of the land use and housing program policies recommended by Seattle's Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda Advisory Committee (HALA) prior to a public meeting held on September 9, 2015. The policies are recommended to fulfill Mayor Ed Murray's goal for 50,000 new housing units, with 40 percent of those affordable, over the next ten years.
According to Bonjukian. "HALA organized its work around four key principles: generating more public funding for affordable units; increasing the quantity of available housing; support for vulnerable buildings, homeowners and tenants; and streamlining development and permitting processes."
The final 65 recommendations comprise a 76 page document (PDF) [pdf]. Bonjukian went through those 65 recommendations and pulled the "19 most progressive recommendations" and summarized each of them.
