Movoto has produced a pair of rankings: "The 10 Nerdiest Cities in America" and "The 10 Nerdiest Small Cities in America." According to the lists, there must be something in the water in Georgia.
Willie Clark posts list the "nerdiest" small cities in the United States. Call it the hall of fame of nerd-friendly communities. Topping the list is Marietta, Georgia, followed by Sarasota and Pensacola in Florida. The list was generated by measure data like comic book stores, video game stores, and hobby shops.

Clark's list is an update of an old list that also identified Georgia as a stomping ground for nerds. Randy Nelson admitted his own nerd status before introducing Movoto's original list of "The 10 Nerdiest Cities in America"—so there's clearly no shame in his game.
Atlanta tops the original list, followed by Portland and Seattle. The rankings were developed by measuring data like number of annual comic book, video game, anime, and sci-fi / fantasy conventions and people per comic book store.
