The Trinity Toll Road project in Dallas is one of the most controversial ongoing infrastructure and highway projects in the country. A Dallas Morning News columnist suggests the project's opponents should act like adults.
Steve Blow considers one possibility for why the Trinity Toll Road project is still alive and kicking in Dallas: "But one…possibility is that it survives because it’s the smartest answer to a serious need." Blow is responding to opponents, described as "the cool kids," who "conjure up all sorts of conspiracy theories to explain why it hasn’t gone away — the evil road-building lobby, property-owning fat cats, selfish suburbanites."
Blow insists that his stance on the Trinity Toll Road is to keep all options open, and that the Trinity Toll Road is looking more sensible, with federal approval likely, according to his estimation. He concludes: "Above all, let’s do the sensible thing and simply keep our options open. Let’s see what the final plan brings. Let’s hear from anyone with better fixes to our transportation bottleneck."
