All those toys under the Christmas tree came from somewhere.
According to Niraj Chokshi, "the U.S. still produces its fair share of toys. There are 563 doll, toy and game manufacturers spread throughout the states, according to Census data."
Chokshi calls on U.S. Census data to provide the following information about the states where toys arr made: "California was home to 95 such manufacturers, more than any other state. New York followed with 34 manufacturers. Florida was next with 31. The remaining states were home to fewer than 30 manufacturers. Five states — Alaska, Hawaii, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming — each had one doll, toy and game manufacturer."
In a separate article, Oliver Wainwright recently covered the story of Yiwu, the "Christmas Village" in China that manufactures 60 percent of the world's Christmas decorations.
