Rod Stevens, a business consultant specializing in urban ventures, compiled a list of the most common "silver bullet" solutions put in place by city leaders to address redevelopment over the past 60 years.
Stevens breaks the redevelopment solutions into three categories: business, retail and tourism, and transportation projects. According to Stevens, the largest of these categories is retail and tourism - a fact that, he claims, proves city leaders have focused too heavily on attracting visitors and suburban exiles, rather than benefiting local residents of urban centers.
