An interesting post appeared on the Public Servant Blog a few days ago. The list includes Amsterdam, Eugene, Oregon; Ponce Center City, Puerto Rico; and the city of Philadelphia among others.
Notable omissions include the London Underground, planning poster boy Portland, and the New Urbanists. The list is personal and subjective but the rationale behind each choice is fully explained.
The author, 'L.G.' explains that "planning a great yet functional urban area takes innovation as well as knowledge." The list provides "examples of urban planning that stood the test of time or that successfully remedied the ravages of time."
