Submit Now for Urbanism's Top Honor: CNU's 10th Anniversary Charter Awards
Congress for the New Urbanism
Since 2001, the Charter Awards from the Congress for the New Urbanism have recognized a body of work that sets the benchmark for best practices in urbanism today and establishes an exciting record of communities becoming more livable, sustainable and valuable.
Submissions in two main categories -professional and student/faculty - are judged by a jury of distinguished urbanists on the extent to which they fulfill and advance the principles of the Charter of the New Urbanism. Chairing this year's jury is developer Vince Graham, who has won Charter Awards for both I'On and Mixson in Charleston, South Carolina. His fellow jurors are:
Maggie Connor, Principal, Urban Design Associates, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Joe DiStefano, Principal, Calthorpe Associates, Berkeley, California
Jacky Grimshaw, Vice-President of Policy, Center for Neighborhood Technology, Chicago, Illinois
Elizabeth Moule, Principal, Moule Polyzoides Architects & Urbanists, Pasadena, California
Paul Murrain, Urban Designer and INTBAU Visiting Professor at the University of Greenwich, London, England
Awards are invited across the Charter's three scales, from broad regions to individual blocks and buildings - and across the transect from big cities to small rural towns. Winners are recognized online, in press releases, in a printed awards book and in a ceremony at CNU's 18th Congress in Atlanta.
Give your project an opportunity to be considered for the Charter Awards' 10th anniversary class of winners. Visit cnu.org/awards for submission forms and guidelines and mail or ship entries to CNU by January 18, 2010.
