Smart Growth in Small Towns Pacific Northwest Tour
Local Government Commission
Join walkability expert Dan Burden for an action-packed 2-1/2 day tour of small towns in the Pacific Northwest by bus, walking exploration and ferry. The February 1-3 tour starts at noon on Monday from the SeaTac Airport and ends at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Seattle on Wednesday evening.
The Pacific Northwest has been a leader in the smart growth and healthy communities movements. Small towns are often flexible enough to bring about change faster than large metropolitan areas. The tour will visit over 10 neighborhoods, towns and small cities to explore key issues facing many communities, including downtown revitalization, infill housing, green development and transformation of suburban bedroom communities to complete towns and cities. We will be met by top city managers, engineers, planners, architects, landscape architects and developers to learn the stories of the best town makers in the land!
The Tour flyer and registration form can be downloaded at: www.newpartners.org/features.html#smalltowns.
Space is limited so register soon! Early Bird registration rates apply through December 18. For more information, please contact Erin Hauge at [email protected].
This tour is being held in conjunction with the 9th Annual New Partners for Smart Growth Conference, which will be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, February 4-6, 2010. Registering for the Small Towns Tour does NOT register you for the New Partners for Smart Growth Conference. For details on the conference, visit www.NewPartners.org.
