The residents and businesses of lower Topanga Canyon are being moved out to make room for a nature preserve.

Finding a new home after 30 or more years in one location is a struggle at best. The American Land Conservancy has hired a relocation group to do just that by December for residents of 56 single family homes and 10 businesses. The residents are bitter about being forced away from their schools and churches and from the roots that the community has built over the past 70 years. The property will create the region's first mountains-to-the-sea ecological zone.
