Coastal Commission Ruled Unconstitutional

The California Coastal Commission's composition must be reconfigured, according to a Superior Court Judge.

This recent decision grows out of the commission's efforts to stop a nonprofit group from completing construction on an artificial reef off the coast of Newport Beach. Supporters of the decision, real estate developers and property rights advocates,are delighted. Opponents of the decision, environmental groups including the Sierra Club, say that the ruling will not stand up under appeal.
