The 40-acre abandoned rail yard near Chinatown was slated to become an industrial park. Now it will be a state park.

The Cornfield, next to Chinatown, will be purchased for $30 million. Then it will be resold to the state and will be used as a park, low-cost housing and schools. This ends the lawsuit by Friends of the LA River and the Chinatown Yards Alliance to block construction of the proposed $80-million industrial park endorsed by Mayor Riordan.
