"On Monday morning, Long Beach officials unveiled the new City Bike Share program, which provides 16 bicycles for city workers to use in and around downtown."

"'With this shared bike program, city employees will be able to make trips during the work day without contributing to air pollution,' Vice Mayor Bonnie Lowenthal said during a festive kickoff event for the program outside City Hall."

"City workers will 'literally be able to stop and smell the flowers, and learn more about our streets, sidewalks, restaurants and neighbors,' Lowenthal said."

"Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga said the program also is 'great for the bottom line' - financially and literally. It will allow city workers to save money on gas and get more exercise, she said."
