After a contentious hearing, the Board of Supervisors approved the North Area Plan which reduces building densities in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The North Area Plan covers 21,172 acres of an unincorporated area from Calabasas to the Ventura County line. It approves one house per 20 acres. Builders are unhappy because it derails their home project plans. Equestrian adocates say that the plan does not protect their recreation.
