"Really, it's an exercise in kind of stepping back and looking at ways to fundamentally rethink the automobile," says Bill Mitchell of MIT's Media Lab.

Whats new is the concept of cars networking with city infrastructure 'nd thinking of the automobile as a kind of wheeled robot that knows the city,' says Mitchell. 'Once you get a more intelligent automobile, combined with more intelligent urban infrastructure, then you can really begin to rethink in really fundamental ways the way that a city is going to work.' "
