Milwaukee to Double Bike Share Stations

Bublr Bikes, one of the nation’s most successful, will add 500 new e-bikes to its system.

Milwaukee’s Bublr bike share system will be expanding thanks to a $4.15 million funding package made up of a federal grant and matching city funds. “The money – the largest investment in the system since it launched in 2014 – will allow Bublr to double the number of stations over the next year.”

Bobby Tanzilo describes the plan in OnMilwaukee, noting that Bublr plans to add 500 e-bikes and 800 docks to the system. “According to Bublr, 80 percent of Bublr stations are co-located with MCTS stops and the new sites will continue this co-location to help close last-mile transportation gaps.”

Bublr is working to expand service so that residents are never more than a few blocks from a bike share station. The city has provided a map and will be posting flyers to advise residents of the new stations in the coming weeks.
