Environment Canada has released an updated version of their three year sustainable development strategy.
This document describes Environment Canada's strategy to put Canada on a path towards long-term sustainability. This strategy will require "a shift in thinking and new approaches to making economic, social and environmental decisions... [and] the strategic use of market forces to ensure good economic policy is also good environmental and social policy." Environment Canadas Sustainable Development Strategy 2004-2006 continues to "promote three key approaches to enhancing the capacity for integrated decision making Information for Decision making, Innovative Instruments and Partnerships for Sustainable Development as well as working to increase the sustainability of the operational aspects of the department."
