"University City Station will be known as Penn Medicine Station following a multimillion-dollar naming rights contract that looks to provide funding for SEPTA through alternative sources of revenue," reports Patricia Madej.

"The Regional Rail station’s 6,400 daily riders should expect to see changes to signage, maps, and screens in the near future, with full implementation coming in two months," according to Madej.

SEPTA isn't the first, or will it likely be the last to sell the naming rights to a transit station. Los Angeles and Sacramento are the most recent to consider a similar a revenue generation model.
