Dozens of subway cars manufactured by Bombadier for the New York subway have defects. Some 48 of 112 new cars have defects, and the rest of an order of 300 subways cars has yet to be filled.

"The newest fleet of NYC Transit subway cars is having a tough time on the rails lately," reports Dan Rivoli.
"Dozens of cars built by Bombardier for the latest train model — known as the R179, which now run on the J/Z and C lines — were sidelined this week after suffering from different kinds of maladies, from door problems, propulsion issues and air compressors," according to Rivoli.
The $2 million train cars, manufactured by the Montreal-based Bombardier, are needed to replace aged R32 trains, and are already delayed due to manufacturing defects.
