The Seattle Department of Transportation announced it will create temporary pedestrian zones in Pioneer Square during this summer's FIFA World Cup games, reports Frank Lenzi for KIRO7.
According to a statement from SDOT, "This approach also helps manage the queuing for a single stadium entry point (north gates only), early gate opening (3 hours prior), and heavy activation in Pioneer Square with watch parties, bands, and entertainment."
Streets around Pioneer Square will be closed to car traffic on game days, and street parking will be restricted. "Unlike other events at Lumen Field, we expect people to arrive much earlier and to linger after," SDOT said.
