There's no established playbook for place marketing, according to Hyder, but there are examples to choose from around the country of marketers looking to other fields to market places. One key aspect of effective place marketing, for instance, is to connect with placemaking. 

Examples from Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Greenville, S.C. are included.
