One of the most famous suburbs in the country has expended tenant protections in the midst of the housing affordability crisis challenging much of the state.

The Pasadena City Council earlier this month approved an expanded Tenant Protection Ordinance (TPO) [pdf], which freezes all evictions without just cause, reports Terry Miller. "The ordinance also capped Pasadena rent increases to match the pending Tenant Protection Act: AB 1482," which goes into effect on New Year’s Day.
A coalition of tenants’ rights advocates rallied at City Hall the day of the vote to support the ordinance.
