Oneonta transit center grant is part of package of $57.7 million in grants from New York State for rural transit projects.
Oneonta, New York, received more than 4 million from the state of New York in a grant for the city's proposed transit hub. "Funding for the City of Oneonta includes $262,000 in operating assistance and $3.79 million to construct a transit hub, upgrade fare boxes and replace dispatch equipment, according to a media release from the governor's office,"Denise Richardson reports for the Daily Star.
Mayor Gary Herzig called the news "Outstanding," pointing out that this plan had started years ago and was a major part of the development of Oneonta's downtown. "Herzig said the awards are a piece of a larger puzzle to develop Market Street to be more pedestrian friendly, to re-design the parking garage into a transit hub and create a center for innovation, locally grown foods and entertainment," Richardson reports.
