New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has instructed the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to explore moving the Red Hook Container Terminal. Doing so would open up the 100-acre waterfront site in Brooklyn for redevelopment.
The Port Authority reports that the existing port, the last remaining in Brooklyn, has been losing money for two decades, and selling the site could bring in considerable revenue that could be leveraged for investments elsewhere in the system.
