The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) this week announced grant funding for the Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program.
[Updated April 6, 2018] "The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced that it will award $264 million in grants to improve cities' bus systems," reports Katie Pyzyk.
"A total of 139 projects in 52 states and territories will receive funding from FTA’s Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program," according to a press release announcing the funding. "The grants will fund projects to replace, rehabilitate, and purchase buses and related equipment as well as projects to purchase, rehabilitate and construct bus-related facilities, such as buildings for bus storage and maintenance."
The $264 million funding allotment falls well short of the demand. A total of 453 projects worth $2 billion put in funding requests.
