Organization Sets Up Tents to Shelter Homeless in Detroit

A civil rights organization has taken direct action to provide support for homeless people living in Detroit.

The Associated Press reports that the Detroit Southern Christian Leadership Conference has taken the homeless situation in Detroit into its own hands, by setting up two dozen tents along a street on the east side of the city.

The action, part of the civil rights organization's "Poor People's Campaign," is intended to provide shelter and highlight poverty, according to the article.
