"You can’t visit the Downtown Erie Innovation District — yet," writes the Editorial Board for GoErie.com. "But the bold, ambitious movement to transform Erie’s downtown and economy now has a face."

"The Downtown Erie Innovation District on Friday announced the hiring of a CEO, one of the first tasks called for in the project’s three-phase development plan," adds the editorial.

That would be Karl H. Sanchack, a Philadelphia native, who "will lead the effort to pair local brainpower with anchor industries and make Erie a hub for innovation centered on data science and cybersecurity."

The Editorial Board adds a positive assessment of the decision before providing more details on the actions toward implementing an innovation district so far.
