Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has set a goal for the city to recycle twice as much as it currently does, and one advocacy group already has ideas about how the city can do so.

A brief by Cole Rosengren shares news about a report intended to put the city of Baltimore on a path toward a new recycling economy. The Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR) released the "Why Should Baltimore Recycle More?" [pdf] report in response to a goal set by newly elected Mayor Catherine Pugh to double the city's waster diversion rate.
The report recommends investing in new, small-scale material recovery facilities in the city, "along with composting sites and a resource recovery park that could refurbish items for reuse."
The report precedes a city report on the same subject, expected later this year.
