Virginia Railway Express Wants to Upgrade its Transit Status

"The Virginia Railway Express (VRE), a commuter rail system with a large coverage area but somewhat infrequent service, is considering both running trains more frequently and adding new stations," reports Charlie Grymes.

The improvements would, in essence, transform the regional commuter line more into a mass transit system, explains Grymes—"with regular service throughout the day rather than just at rush hour." The article includes all the details about the proposed line extensions and service improvements on the VRE.
