After purchasing the naming rights of the streetcar line formerly known as M-1 for $5 million, Dan Gilbert made a big reveal Thursday in Detroit.
Eric D. Lawrence reports: "Detroit's 3.3-mile streetcar line from Downtown to New Center will be known as the QLINE, according to an announcement by Dan Gilbert's Quicken Loans today."
"Speculation about the name has been intense at times especially after news reports that Quicken Loans, the company that purchased the naming rights for $5 million, had registered several names with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including Qlink, Qline, Quickline, Rocketrail and Qride," adds Lawrence.
