City residents don't need a car if they have good travel options. One condominium offers buyers one year of unlimited Uber rides instead of a parking space.
A growing segment of urban residents are unconcerned with the owning a car or having a dedicated residential parking space. The real estate market is responding.
According to an article by Lauren Parvizi, an attractive, centrally located San Francisco apartment "has a new kitchen, hardwood floors, ample natural light, and lots of charm," but no parking space. "Instead, the...listing offers prospective buyers a 'Bonus Feature' in the form of a year of unlimited Uber rides."
"Although the specifics of the Uber deal aren’t clear (interested parties have to inquire for details), we suspect there are some car-free folks who will be truly delighted by this unexpected and novel amenity."
