The new structure planned for 7 World Trade Center will be taller than the bulding that collapsed on 9-11.
"The new structure would replace the 47-story office tower that collapsed hours after the twin towers fell Sept. 11...the new structure would be the equivalent of 52 stories and would be 750 feet tall, compared with the 616-foot previous building...It would also leave space for a street to run across the site that had been cut off by the original WTC layout. One of the questions facing planners of the main World Trade Center site is whether to reopen the street grid that had been cut off by the twin towers."
