Building and zoning inspectors in a Chicago suburb get bio hazard protective gear.
Building and zoning inspectors are among employees getting on-the-job protective equipment in the Chicago suburb of Rolling Meadows. The Daily Herald reports that the city is one of a few suburban communities outfitting employees with protection in case of crisis. The new equipment in Rolling Meadows protects against anthrax and other airborne toxins that could be used as weapons. In addition to police and firefighters, public works officials and building and zoning inspectors will be getting full protective suits. According to the Daily Herald, officials said that the $15,000 purchase is a safeguard that can no longer be consideredunnecessary or foolish.
