American Institute of Architects Gold Medal winner Tadao Ando revealed his vision for 9-11 memorial at the site of the World Trade Center in New York.
"Architect Tadao Ando, in Washington over the weekend to collect his gold medal from the American Institute of Architects, has no doubt about what should be built on the World Trade Center site in New York: as close to nothing as you can possibly imagine. In a Saturday afternoon lecture at the National Building Museum, the celebrated Japanese architect revealed his own design for the 16-acre site decimated by the terrorist attack of Sept. 11. Build an earthen mound about 100 feet high, Ando advised. Make it 650 feet in diameter. Plant it with grass. End of story."
