The new regional plan is part of a $82 billion comprehensive transit blueprint for the Bay Area.
"The 19-member commission, responsible for transportation planning and funding in the Bay Area, unanimously approved a $10.5 billion transit program that also called for San Francisco's Muni Metro subway system to be expanded to include a route from the current Caltrain station to Chinatown... The blueprint also calls for buses to play a bigger role in express transit over the next decade. Bus rapid transit systems that use traffic-light synchronization, dedicated lanes and other improvements will take to city streets in the East Bay and in San Francisco."
