Six Bay Area transit systems will begin testing of a universal transit ticket, dubbed 'TransLink'.
The pale green card, the size and shape of a credit card but with a microchip embedded in its left side, is the long-awaited universal transit ticket, dubbed TransLink. The idea behind it is to make it easier for people to navigate the region's array of 26 independent transit agencies. It's an ambitious goal, and a popular one. In a poll of registered voters conducted in May by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, respondents ranked a universal transit ticket as one of the most important transportation improvements for the Bay Area.
