For your holiday weekend delight, we bring you some astonishing HD time-lapse videos of Earth taken from a Russian weather satellite.
As Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg writes, the 1080p video was compiled by James Drake, who blogs about space at Infinity Imagined, from super high resolution images of Earth taken by Russian weather satellite Elektro-L 1, and made available by the Research Center for Earth Operative Monitoring NTs OMZ.
"The Elektro-L videos are an HD resolution of 1080p, but you can explore the still images in all their 121-megapixel glory via Drake's site dedicated to the project."
