One Year Down, 3,000 Homes Demolished

Officials in Detroit have demolished 3,000 buildings over the course of the last year, a goal set by Mayor Dave Bing.

Bing is hoping to demolish another 3,000 homes by the end of April 2012.

"He wants 10,000 demolished by the time his four-year term ends in December 2013.

Only 860 empty houses were torn down by the city in 2009."
