The WSJ's annual Misery Index looked at unemployment rates, gas prices, and changes in home values to determine the rankings of 20 major US cities.

1. Phoenix

2. Portland

3. Seattle

4. Minneapolis

5. Los Angeles

6. Denver

7. Dallas

8. Las Vegas

9. Atlanta

10. San Francisco
