The Mayor of Tel-Aviv has called the new Master Plan a "constitution for the city," yet local officials have stated they will not comment on the plan until after it is approved by the city council.
According to a story by Jesse Fox on SustainableCityBlog.com, even Googling the master plan will result in almost no information.
From SustainableCityBlog.com:
"The public, for its part, remains only minimally aware of the plan's existence. This has proven a winning strategy for controlling the terms of the debate, though hardly a democratic one."
Jesse Fox writes that what little is known of the plan paints it as "unambitious and depressingly mediocre." He argues that increased participation would benefit the city with a more complete vision for the future.
