This course is held in partnership with the Tampa Downtown Partnership.

This course provides an overview of the real estate development and reuse process, with an emphasis on the role of the economic developer. Typically, the economic developer works to balance the dynamic between the profit orientation of the private developer and the public objective to be met by the real estate project. Learn about the various financing tools that are available at the local, regional and state level, including tax increment financing, bond financing, land assembly and brownfield redevelopment.

Tom has over 26 years of local government public sector experience, retiring in 2006 as the City Manager for the City of Titusville, Florida, where he also served as the Executive Director of the Community Redevelopment Agency.

Mr. Oris oversees all aspects of the firm and personally manages all projects ranging from the creation of redevelopment plans to retail market analysis to the development of training programs for redevelopment professionals.
