Planners should know better. With BOCEP, they can
Professional Development Institute, Rutgers University
If you want more from continuing education than CM credits, consider taking a Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program (BOCEP) course.
BOCEP offers high quality, affordable and convenient learning. All BOCEP courses are entirely online. In most, there are no required meetings. They are all interactive. By that, we mean that you learn from seasoned practitioners in guided dialogues with and from smart professionals from around the United States. So you get the convenience of an online course plus the same ability to share ideas with professionals that you would get in a workshop or conference. But instead of having a few minutes to talk and network, in BOCEP courses you get 5.5 weeks.
You can get recognition for your hard work. Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy offers noncredit certificates that help you demonstrate your competency. You can earn a Certificate of Completion, Master Practitioner Certificate, or Expert Practitioner Certificate by passing a set number of courses and completing some additional work. Some other continuing education programs give you a piece of paper just for participating. That proves only that you attended. To get a Certificate from Bloustein, you have to earn it.
And you can also get 14 AICP Certification Maintenance credits on almost every BOCEP course.
Beginning in September, BOCEP is offering more than two dozen classes in Community Development and Social Justice, Economic Development and Real Estate, Planning Law and Legal Issues, Professional Practice, Smart Growth and Sustainable Development, and Urban Design and Placemaking.
Upcoming courses, running from September 9 to October 15 are:
*Community Development Analysis
*Introduction to Environmental
*Introduction to Urban Planning
*Developer's Toolbox: Housing Market Analysis
*New Jersey Planning Law
We are offering early bird discounts for New Jersey Planning Law and Urban Design Analysis. Register by September 1 and pay only $245. For the other courses, use promotion code BGBBS to get a $50 scholarship. These scholarships go to the first 10 registrants.
Never taken an online or BOCEP course? No worries. Most BOCEP learners are newbies and the vast majority say their course met the majority of their expectations. A good number said their course met or exceeded all of their expectations.
In BOCEP classes, you can learn in several different ways: Reading materials that are practical and thought-provoking, getting lessons from seasoned practitioners, practicing what you learned, reflecting in guided dialogues with other practitioners, and taking tests or completing projects to demonstrate your mastery of the material.
BOCEP is produced by the Professional Development Institute of Rutgers University's Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Ranked #4 by Planetizen, Bloustein is one of the top centers of planning thought and teaching in the United States.
