"In a rare display of political unity, environmentalists, land developers, sugar growers and representatives of south Florida's densely populated urban areas have agreed on a plan to restore one of the state's natural crown jewels: the Everglades. The scheme-intended to rescue as many as 68 plant and animal species from extinction-involves reconfiguring the region's entire water supply system."
