Perhaps nowhere has the urban transformation been more dramatic-or unexpected-than in Chicago. "Over the past five years, a whole series of communities situated northwest of Lake Michigan have been gradually transformed from ghettos and barrios into hip, information age neighborhoods. It's a process that is changing the city and, also, sparking a potentially powerful political debate."
