Infill housing, while emerging as a hot solution for curbing sprawl in the Bay Area, has its critics.

"As planners step up efforts to curb suburban sprawl and the woes they say come with it, such as traffic and pollution, infill housingmay save the Bay Area from what the planners see as theSouthern California syndrome -- relentless sprawl and ever-growingfreeways." Using under-utilized land that already has infrastructureseems to make a lot of sense to some , infill housing has its critics. Developers find infill housing to be more expensive to developdue to infrastructure renovations and cleanups as well as neighborhood opposition.
