Caltech vice provost and professor of physics and applied physics, David Goodstein, is the author of "Out of Gas: The End of the Age of Oil." In this article (adapted from a speech), he explains the science behind "Hubbert's Peak", and shows that "Hubbert’s peak for oil discovery came and went 40 years ago...Either we, our children, or perhaps our grandchildren, are in for some very, very bad times."
