The Milwaukee Common Council approved a plan on June 15 for redeveloping a mile-long corridor on an edge of downtown where the blighting influence of the Park East Freeway has been eliminated.
In what may preview a national trend, Milwaukee has torn down a freeway spur to make room for a large downtown extension. This could be one of the most significant new urban projects in the coming years.
