Los Angeles County census managers met with state officials to discuss Los Angeles' strategy for success in achieving a 68% mail-in rate, well above the national average. Surprisingly, there was no discussion about a Friday LA Times story spotlighting dramatic abuses in Santa Monica of "non-response follow-ups", in which workers cut corners to finish their follow-ups in record time.
